Why Native American Sports Mascots Should Be Eliminated… Immediately

Wednesday, March 10 | 9:30 – 10:55 a.m. Watch on Livestream or Boxcast(closed captioning)

Joshua Hunt (Cheyenne), Vice Chair,
Committee of 500 Years of Dignity and Resistance

The national spotlight on Native American mascots has grown more intense in the aftermath of George Floyd’s death and the calls for social and racial justice that followed. Cleveland native Joshua Hunt will address the claims that mascots are harmless symbols for fans to enjoy by presenting evidence on the negative impact these symbols have on Natives and non-Natives alike. A brief conversation between Hunt and Common Reading program co-chair Stephanie Greer will follow the presentation.
