April is Jazz Appreciation Month!

We’re happy to say that after two years of virtual educational activities, we’re doing our 43rd annual DownBeat Education Days live and in person April 26 and 27!

Our host-sites are Westlake High School and Hudson High School and we are very grateful to their band directors, Hilary Patriok and Roberto Iriarte for hosting.

The clinicians include Dominick Farinacci, drummer Jerome Jennings,  pianist Jonathan Thomas, bassist Brian Thomas and saxophonist Dave Sterner. Students will be engaged in adjudicated performances, sectionals and workshops on improvisation and active listening. Each day, the students will be treated to a performance by the pros. Participating schools include Brunswick HS, Maplewood HS, Mercer Area HS, Brooklyn HS, Westlake HS and Hudson HS. It will be two immersive days in jazz and lots of fun!
