Buddhism: Overcoming Suffering and Finding Hope
Monday, Nov. 30 | Noon – 1:25 p.m. | MCC 201
Host: Matthew Phillips, Associate Professor of History
Guest: Constance Kassor, Chair of the Jack, Joseph and Morton Mandel Humanities Center and Scholars Academy
Are suffering and conflict simply parts of being human that must be endured, or can we learn to face them in ways that allow us to live with hope and meaning — and even strive for positive change? Join us as we explore how Buddhism answers these questions and consider how Buddhist practices and perspectives might inform how we respond to suffering, conflict and change in our own lives.
In association with the History department at Metro, the History Club at Metro and the School of Liberal Arts and Sciences
Food and drink provided by the Mandel Center for the Humanities
Can’t attend in person? Watch these discussions on Webex.
