About this Event
Free EventIn January 2024, Associate Dean of Liberal Arts Kate Vodicka gave birth to her sister’s son. For the previous nine months, she had carried him as a surrogate and, in doing so, entered a wild and often maddening world of healthcare riddles, legal mazes, and assumptions and expectations regarding women and women’s bodies. Her fascinating story touches on issues of gender in healthcare, the politics of reproduction, and the notion that “the personal is political.” You’ll also get to see a picture of a really cute baby.
