While we are—rightfully—focused on the practical aspects of what’s in front of us now with the rise of artificial intelligence, this talk will take a step back and consider how A.I. connects to the whole of human history and art, as well as what it might mean for the future of the Humanities and human expression. Dr. Matthew Phillips, Assistant Professor of History, will weave through time, connecting the advent of artificial intelligence to a millennia-long narrative that includes Genesis, the Industrial Revolution, and Frankenstein. The talk will conclude with Q&A. Attendance will be recorded and provided to professors who offer bonus points for attendance.
