What is impostor syndrome? “It’s the feeling that everyone else knows exactly what they’re doing, but you feel lost,” explains Cleveland Clinic Psychologist Susan Albers, PsyD. “You have this fear that the people around you are going to figure out that you don’t know what you’re talking about and expose you as a fraud.” Faculty, staff, and students can experience Imposture Syndrome at some point. In this session, we will review new research on fixed mindset, learn who experiences it, and hear and share experiences from fellow faculty. By the end of this session, you will be able to collaborate with faculty and choose evidence-based strategies and activities to use when designing your learner-centered and equitable courses that will help our students (and ourselves) normalize academic struggles.
