Tri-C JazzFest: Big Band Party on Planet Q
Ernie Krivda and the Fat Tuesday Big Band explore the world of Quincy Jones.
“No doubt about it, Ernie Krivda is one of the originals of the tenor saxophone,” Bill Donaldson wrote for Cadence Magazine about the legendary jazz musician. Krivda is also a composer who has written countless tunes in multiple genres, and a recording artist with well over 30 albums released on a variety of labels.
He has been influenced by polka bands from his early teens, classes at the Cleveland Institute of Music, the bands of Cleveland greats Eddie Bachus and Bill DeArango, and a life of music, including the mentorship of Cannonball Adderley, and tours with Quincy Jones and performances with musicians such as Ella Fitzgerald, Phil Woods, Sarah Vaughn, Buddy DeFranco, Groove Holmes, Terry Gibbs, John Faddis, The Dizzy Gillespie Orchestra, David Sanborn, and Jackie Wilson. He has played with his own groups at jazz clubs and festivals all over the world.
