About Exercise is Medicine:

Cuyahoga Community College is committed to promoting healthy living through outreach initiatives within our community and providing training for individuals with a passion to enter health care professions. Exercise is Medicine (EIM) on Campus calls upon universities and colleges to become engaged in the promotion of physical activity as a vital sign of health. The EIM solution aims to link the clinical to the community in combatting today’s most common chronic conditions through physical activity. The college setting is seen as the place that can help support the EIM solution and promote physical activity and healthy living.

Twice a year, Tri-C hosts an Exercise is Medicine event at the Eastern Campus (November) and Western Campuses (April). Hundreds of employees, students, and community members attended the events which consist of a variety of fitness activities (exercise demonstrations, assessments, etc.). The event serves as an opportunity to promote and inform people about a healthy lifestyle and College programs, including Sport and Exercise Studies.

EIM is part of the American College of Sports Medicine. The American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) is the largest sports medicine and exercise science organization in the world. With more than 50,000 members and certified professionals worldwide, ACSM is dedicated to advancing and integrating scientific research to provide educational and practical applications of exercise science and sports medicine. Some of the graduates of Tri-C’s Sport and Exercise Studies program leave with an ACSM credential (certified personal trainer, group exercise instructor, etc.), which is considered the Gold Standard in the exercise science field. Tri-C and ACSM value a culture of wellness within their organizations.
