DownBeat Jazz Education Days

Sign your bands up now to participate in Tri-C’s DownBeat Jazz Education Days - April 10 & 11, 2018. 

The prestigious Brubeck Institute Jazz Quintet will be making their Cleveland debut performance and be joined by Tri-C artist-in-residence Dominick Farinacci along with guest artists Quincy Phillips (drums), Christian Tamburr (piano/vibes), and Chris Coles (sax). This day will be filled with performances and adjudications, workshops, and a fantastic culminating evening concert. 

Tri-C’s DownBeat Jazz Education Days are open to jazz bands of all levels: junior high, high school and collegiate. 

New educational highlights include interactive workshops and master classes that focus on improvisation, feeling the groove and understanding time, playing techniques, and jam sessions with the guest artists. 
 
FESTIVAL SCHEUDLE: Tuesday, April 10, 2018 – Westlake High School Auditorium, Westlake, OH
11 a.m.: Ensemble Performances and Adjudications
1:30 p.m.: Lunch (provided by Tri-C JazzFest with registration)
2:15 p.m.: Master Classes, Workshops and Interactive Seminars
5 p.m.: Dinner and Jam Sessions (provided by Tri-C JazzFest with registration)
7 p.m.: CONCERT

FESTIVAL SCHEUDLE: Wednesday, April 11, 2018 – Mandel Theatre, Tri-C Eastern Campus, Highland Hills, OH
11a.m.: Ensemble Performances and Adjudications
1:30 p.m.: Lunch (provided by Tri-C JazzFest with registration)
2:15 p.m.: Master Classes, Workshops and Interactive Seminars
5 p.m.: Dinner and Jam Sessions (provided by Tri-C JazzFest with registration)
7 p.m.: CONCERT

FESTIVAL REGISTRATION:
-Ensemble registration fee $225 - book by February 1 to get the “early bird” registration fee of $180. 

-Registration fee includes a 25-minute performance/ adjudication with world-class jazz artists, workshops, evening concert, AND lunch and dinner for your ensemble (one registration fee per ensemble). Directors may choose how to use their adjudicated performance time that will be outlined in the registration information. 

-Ensembles will receive a recording of their adjudicated performance following the festival. It is encouraged for students to attend the adjudications/ performances of all groups for the optimum educational experience.

-Ensembles are scheduled for performance/ adjudication times based on their registration date (first come-first serve or travel distance). Groups with special scheduling requests must communicate that upon registering. If your ensemble prefers a warm up time prior to their adjudicated performance, please include this in your registration request.
